FOGHORN - Vintage Plunger Type

This is a rare, mid 20th Century, cast brass and copper replica plunger-type ship's foghorn, with an oval-shape brass maker's plaque riveted to the copper horn. The maker's plaque reads TYFON TRADE MARK, KOKUMS MLK (sic) VERKSTAD MALMO SWEDEN with the Serial number 287111 (see image below). The 10.5 cm diameter cylindrical plunger tube is capped top and bottom with cast brass end caps, and three brass rods hold it all together. The bottom is bolted to a wooden base.

The horn is 40.6 cm long, including the brass back grill which has "TYFON PATENT" cast into the grill in stencil form.

The plunger rod has a hard-wood handle.
