MOORING MARKER BUOY

This large spherical yellow mooring marker buoy has a diameter of 35.5cm (14") and weighs 10.0kg. It is likely made from a dense HDPE plastic outer shell, with an expanded polystyrene (EPS) or polyurethane foam inner core.

A buoy of this size and weight will displace about 24kg of sea water when fully submerged, and have a buoyancy of approximately 235 N. Left to bob about in the sea, about 58 % of the buoy will sit above the waterline.
